#141232 - pick and choose
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Thus, I s'pose, a "good IDE" is one where you get a good compiler and a good editor and a good assembler and a good simulator and a good project-manager and a good debugger and... etc, etc...

A pipe dream. Everybody and his brother hollers for an IDE and give me one - that without spending WEEKS patching it together before giving up (Eclipse) - has every component at least 95% as good as the best available free standing version. The 'ready made' IDEs are all (I know of) an attempt to patch something good (e.g. the Keil compiler) with some 'we have that too' stuff just to make the Idiotic Desperate Effort 'complete'. Why on earth does e.g. Keil (who excel in compiler quality) not just link Codewright in with their IDE instead of providing their own substandard editor. OK let them do so, but, at least, provide the option of replacing it.

A restaurant has GREAT steaks and LOUSY potatoes, some go there regularily and some never come back. Is that a good restaurant?
