You could "get by" with i2732's n that application, I think.
They're power-hungry, but I think one unit won't overburden the available power supply. You might consider the all-plastic 2832 EEPROM, in one of its incarnations, made by several vendors, only to be overrun by the 28-pin parts, which seemed to force the 24-pin variety off the market.
