What motivates you to require a small EPROM?
It's the same way with SRAM, you know. They don't make 'em smaller than 32KB, any longer, and even those are hard to find. I have no idea, right off the top, what the smallest FLASH component avaialable today is. However, since the package is cheaper than the windowed-ceramic types used for the 2732, they'll probably be cheaper than EPROM. Last time I bought SRAM, needing about 2Kx8, I had to buy 32Kx8, which cost about $0.40US for an 8 ns part, but which weren't available in a smaller configuration. I don't know what we're supposed to do when we need a 256-byte lookup table or PROM, but we'll have to do without those "tiny" parts of yesteryear. It makes my skin crawl each time I have to use 4 Mb flash in order to have the use of 2 kB of its capacity. It makes you wonder what's going on out there, doesn't it? RE |
