This is the same as one of Mehdi's isn't it?

The whole backspace stuff is crappy, regardless of if it's the first character or not. The fix is easy - the cjne has to be prior to decrement. A sidenote is that the echo indicates that this might be human user input via terminal, so the backspace should be "echoed", too, otherwise it causes confusion.

There is still one more error (the original one, which I made in reality and why I made up this "quiz").

Hint: as with the others, the comment lies (or, better, the code does not reflect the comment, thus nor the intention of programmer).

What, easy? :-)
