Why would that be a problem? Whether you use a CISC or a RISC cpu does not change anything to the principle and algorithm.

If you have a solution for a PIC, then make sure you understand what tasks are done by the program. You can then translate each task to 8051-speak...

I still don't see why it would be a problem to look at code for a PIC if you want to develop the same for an 8051.
