#131358 - ok, average, but what about user? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Ah, philosophy :)
Before you average anything out, you need to establish whom do you call a user in the first place... 1) anybody that comes in contact with 8052.com? 2) anybody that visit 8052.com more than n times? 3) anybody that take active part in discussions? 4) anybody that logs on? 6) anybody with a user page? 7) anybody that completes 'are you a user of 8052.com test'? 8) anybody that knows the usage of [pre] tag? 9) any other criteria... If someone posts a question and then disappears, or if someone looses interest if is not presented with 'gimme all' answer straight away shouldn't be considered a real 'user of 8052.com'. It is more 'I'm just passing by' than 'I'm a user of' situation. So, when you establish your threshold levels, you end up with quite a regular bunch of real 'users of 8052.com'. And if you try to average them out you will run into another problem: People generally interested in construction and design are usually very self-specific. Not in a negative way, mind you, engineering is more like philosophy or art. In some cases I dare to say it even comes dangerously close to religion... So if you try to sort-out the users of 8052.com my bet is that you don't have significant statistical base to form any valid general assumption aside from 'strong individualism' and 'great variety'. That's why it is usually so interesting here :) Best luck CN |
