#130123 - Merry Christmas Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Though, Christmas is not officially celebrated here in Iran, but it is also a happy time here. In winter Iranians celebrate “Yalda” which is the longest night of the year(It was a few nights ago). It has remained a tradition from thousand years ago to stay awake at this night and eat as much as you can from different fruits especially fruits that are also available in summer. People used to believe that if they eat summer fruits, it will save them from coldness of winter. Our new year will be celebrated in about 3 months from now at the first day of spring approximately when you celebrate Easter. It is very nice to see how so many people are happy and celebrate Christmas. Happy Christmas to all members of this forum. |
