I don't shop in the areas where they charge a sales tax to pay for E470, and I don't use that highway. I think it was a political plum given to someone who wanted to make a lot of money, but even the yuppies who think that their time is so valuable as to warrant the cost in taxes don't seem to think it's worth the half-dollar or whatever toll it costs to use it. I'm irritated mainly because the officials who initially promoted it as a private sector effort to reduce the load on I25 later bailed it out and then imposed an additional sales tax to pay for it, which they'd promised not to do, and out of sympathy for those who believed them. It was ill-advised, poorly designed, and just as badly produced as a highway can be. Now that's showing up in maintenance. Instead of bailing out the failing enterprise, they should have allowed the company to go under and thereby allowed someone competent to take it over. It's too late now, though.
