E470 is a bypass that was built with SOME private investment. The idea was to enable development in a segment of the Denver metropolitan area that was poorly served with high-volume highways. This E470 is not of use to everyone. It links the extreme southeast portion of the metro area with the extreme east end of the metro area. That's why I haven't ever used it, as I live out west, and try not to proceed far east of the southern end of I25.
The reason people want, generally, to avoid the souther portion of I25 is that the traffic volume is so high. Now that the last three years' work on I25, which included adding two lanes in either direction to the most congested portion, there may be less interest in avoiding that part of the main north-south highway. Of course, that will not help the cost of retiring the debt from construciton, or of maintaining E470. RE |
