The best tuners are the Petersen strobe tuners, which usually have a built-in microphone. My pal Barre the guitar tech (he works for Patti Smith Group, among others) swears by them.

I have a couple of small Korg digital tuners I use with my guitars. I have two because I lost the first one, and the "First Law Of Replacement" says that as soon as you buy a replacement for something you lost, the lost one turns up. So you have a spare.
