#123600 - instruction set
Responding to: ???'s previous message
The instruction set is important too. For example if you want to read a byte somewhere on the stack the 68hc11 can do that with only one instruction using an index on the stack pointer. The 8051 OTOH needs to copy SP to A, add the index, move it into Ri and then finally it can read @Ri. This is the reason why most 8051 C compilers disable reentrancy by default.
