PS. As one of my frends says, the sources ARE the documentation.

The source tells you what the program is doing.

It doesn't tell you WHY it's doing it!

Certainly.

Unfortunately, programs, which are commented well enough, usually don't need to be corrected/updated and vice versa. And of course, one invariably needs to correct/update the most obscure part of the code, which has the less usable comments even in the best commented software.

So, at the end of the day, one does have the specs, which tell WHY is the SW written at all, and one tries to figure out what the hell is it doing and how. By the time one succeeds in that, he is generally able to correct/update it.

Life is far from being perfect. Fortunately; otherwise I'd have no job :-)))
