Well they DO use French designers ... <sigh> ... and it was THEIR pride, and not the ATMEL management, IMHO, that drove the project I mentioned into the ground. The French team claimed not to know the answers to many questions I asked, but what really turned up was that they "didn't know" because they didn't want me to know that whatever it was about which I'd asked, didn't work.
They claimed things worked at certain speeds, but couldn't verify it. Of course, we required that it operate the advertised speed. They claimed that bugs would be fixed in the next silicon, but, of course, there was to be no new silicon ... <sigh> ... Those French designers thought that they were entitled to a job for life, despite the fact they didn't know what they were doing. Maybe that's how it is in France. I avoid FRENCH products, except for some wines (pretty pricey!) and some cheeses (pretty fattening!). They've had long enough to work out the bugs in wine and cheese. They make pretty good sauces, too. RE |
