They didn't do this last year, as there was a different instructor. They won't do it next year, probably, as my colleague doesn't normally teach this, but if they did, he'd undoubtedly assign a different MCU. I said, I was hoping someone else had already done this so I wouldn't have to write the code myself, as it's a freebie for a colleague to use. I once wanted to do this as I'd bought a few that didn't turn out to be completely functional, and my colleague remembered it. He just didn't know I'd shelved it before writing the code. I doubt the code will take more than a couple of hours. It's pretty simple putting the LCD in the several states/modes in which they're seldom used, and testing the unused memory range along with the character generator RAM and the larger font. Have you actually ever looked at the datasheet for the HD44780? It has lots of seldom used features. RE |
