Some FPGAs have built in protection in the form of a triple des or AES dycrptor which can decrypt an encrypted bit stream coming from the configutation memory.Some FPGAs can be reconfigured on the fly so for example the FPGAs can have different functions loaded at different times those used in the mars rovers periodically checked themselves for radiation damage and if they had any faults could repair themselves. |
