The following page is from the Mullard book "Electronic Counting - Circuits, Techniques, & Devices", dated October 1967. I have highlighted the discussion of silicon vs germanium diodes:

[Update] Appendix 1 gives a full design procedure for a DTL NAND gate: http://www.antronics.co.uk/history/m...ndix_1.pdf Note, on p192: "... in practice, silicon diodes are normally used." - remember, this is 1967! |
