I believe Linear Variable Differential Transformer is the correct usage. The device is an air core transformer with (usually) a sine wave excitation applied to the center-tapped primary and the output taken from the secondary. A core is mounted in the NULL coupling point of the transformer and its movement changes the phase and magnitude of the signal on the secondary. |
