#178820 - PSoC Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Although this is in the 8051 section of the forum, I feel I should add that the Cypress PSoC1 does have a D/A converter (and of course A/D) if you want them. For those of you who haven't worked with it, the PSoC has a range of configurable analog and digital modules.
As far as I can tell no mention has been made of required resolution of the part. Unfortunately the PSoC1 D/A is limited to 9 bits although you can get up to 14 bit resolution on the A/D. (We all know accuracy is not quite the same thing though!) As mentioned elsewhere, there is always the option of PWM for the D/A. PSoC1 comes in many small package variations from 8pin DIP, 20 pin SMD SOIC & SSOP, 28 pin SMD SOIC & SSOP, for smaller packages. Richard Erlacher said:
My intention was to try to find him a part that he can use because it has the "automatic" features (it's not cost-sensitive) by setting them up and letting them run on their own, Actually the PSoC3 (8051 based) may actually allow you to directly connect the input to the output and bypass a lot of the code, but more detailed information would be needed. The D/As have much better resolution and the analog performance is much better overall than the PSoC1. Unfortunately, even if you can find them, the PSoC3 will initially be in a much larger footprint. Richard Erlacher said: There is no mention of what kind of display but PSoC1 (and 3) also has a module to create a 4 digit 7-segment display, reducing the development time needed.
with only a code set to produce the display running in the MCU. -Aubrey |
