Yes, I was really very interested in your post that described the provision of a hardware abstraction layer. I have your technique locked-in for when I start porting my C code to other classes of controllers. My only concern for adopting the HAL structure in the current module under development was that it might not be so immediately well understood by this module's intended, less experienced audience.

I definitely agree that my current solution is wanting, as it fails to address the possible variability of bit assignments within the register of interest, etc, etc. You make very valid points here, Andy.

Hmm...maybe I should give this all a bit more thought. I really need to decide on the best possible solution, before repeatedly using it throughout my new code collection.
