I agree with Eric and Andy that using the parasitic diodes is a bad idea. I also think that is is rash of Microchip to suggest such an idea in an app note, thereby giving it some credibility. In particular, be aware that the app note was written assuming a 110VAC supply. Many US engineers seem unaware that much of the rest of the world uses 230VAC, which is much more hazardous |
