For many applications most 8 bit CPUs may work. 8052, PIC , AVR, What ever.
As a beginner the question should be which is a better as a first processor.
1) what do you know? ASM, C, any specific CPUs
2) what can you spend on tools, Proto boards what ever.
3) who has a real debugger, or simulator.
4) to learn you need to make some thing real. what do you think it maybe?
