#99419 - exceptions Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I have only come across one possible exception to this rule
So have I, when a hard soldered product just "had to have" an enhancement. The problem is not really whether following the rules or not, it is not follwing the rules and thinking all is OK. This may seem like a contradiction, it is not. If you have 100 hours to write, debug and test a small routine, you can "live a bit dangerously", but in the real world where all you have is 90 minutes, there is no room for any risk. An analogy: In an area where a speed of 55 MPH or less is is safe you should go no faster. If you are taking someone bleeding to death to the hospital on that road, of course, you will go faster but be totally alert and aware of the dangers. Now following that analogy, some would say "this proves that a speed above 55 MPH is safe - horsefeathers! (the "polite" British version of the US Bull....) . Erik |
