With your help it has got it going. I will look into what you said about it going past the pointer tonight in class but yes decrementing R1 has solved the problem. As for the delay I was goign to play with it tonight also, i will let you know. Now for the rest of my project to add a keypad ad a few relays to control a heater, the whole project is meant to be a thermostat like in you home.
