My immediate reaction is to suggest that not all your backups should be HDDs on the same +12V power supply. Part of my strategy is to keep some of my backups in external USB drives that are powered off and put away when not being used. Some of the HDDs I use are just bare drives that are connected with one of these devices during the backup procedure...
