Don't cheapen the author by assuming that he doesn't know the two tables are just complements of the 7 low bits.

The claim in the article is just that you need tables since there is no correlation between BCD and the segments of the 7-segment digit.

Nothing wrong with the article, except that the information has been published a great many times before. But then again - who can hope to write something new and unique?
