#177893 - Should I make an 8052 SBC from an old typewriter? |
I found an old electronic typewriter with keyboard, LCD, and two micros, one P8032AH, one P8052AH.
The keyboard is connected to the 8052, and the two micro's serial ports are linked. The 8032 controls the LCD, one 8K static RAM, and a nonvolatile memory I can't identify. Both micros are connected to several other peripherals, e.g., step motors and switches. Here is a photo: My goal is to build a stand-alone SBC to program in-system. What would be the best course of action: A: Attempt to modify the board to use as-is (to write into external EEPROM using a different memory chip), B: Remove all essential components and start over? -Nathan |
