The 'Pi' cable has its uses if you have a PC with two free RS232 ports handy. This can be quite a problem, as Windows gets confused when multiple USB-UART virtual Com port adapters get plugged in. You also lose the command-response (master-slave) synchronisation, so I keep meaning to make an RS232 'snooper' that picks up traffic in both directions. Are there any 8051 variants with 3 UARTs?
