#176710 - RE: Portmon from Sysinternals

To 'monitor', and only monitor, any serial COM port communication I'm using Portmon from Sysinternals Suite (By Mark Russinovich).

Do you mean this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sys...96644.aspx ?

If so, from the description, it appears that it monitors inside a Windows PC;
ie, at the point marked '*' below:
   Windows PC
+----------------+
|  .......       |
|  : app :<--*-->+<---RS232--->
|  .......       |
+----------------+

This is, indeed, often a very useful thing to do - but it doesn't help for monitoring the actual RS232 comms "on the wire" between two physical devices.

Or have I misunderstood?
