#175855 - I mean, how would an "uninitiated" Englishman read it Responding to: ???'s previous message |

Sedlacek is pronounced Sedlacheck Oh, I of course know how a surname of Czech origin is pronounced properly... :-) I had two neighbours with the same surname recently... I mean, if you'd show it to somebody not telling what is the proper pronounciation, how would they read it? Those who never came into contact with Slavic names usually struggle with the "cl" combination in my surname (pronounced "tsl"), the best guess is usually a confused "xl"... Jan Waclawek |
