AIUI, it's not the programmers or languages; it's the fact that traditional "serial comms" are, essentially, "circuit-switched" - so that would mean that the server would have to tie-up "permanent" resources for each connection. So my question: does anyone have experience with a product that allows some other interface/protocol that will allow a web/network programmer to talk to a distant serial device? Yes, I do.
