#172680 - Why not? Responding to: ???'s previous message |

I was initially thinking of Kai's idea, but I would not expect that the total power available would allow charging circuitry... Why not? It's only consuming power at the end of battery life. According to datasheet of CR2032 http://www.renata.com/pdf/3vlit...032.05.pdf the cell has a capacity of 210mAh at a standard discharge current of 400µA. The peak current of my flasher is only 140µA and the average current only 30µA. A full cell would be able to power the flasher for more than 7500 hours, which is more than 300 days. But in this application the flasher is only consuming power at the end of battery life and has only to work for 1...2 days. So, when properly choosing the threshold of "battery low voltage detector", I see no reason, why this scheme should not work for several days or even longer. I already successfully use this scheme in a similar application. There's no need for an additional battery for the flasher at all. Kai Klaas |
