unless protection/parasitric didodes interfer.

I am in deep waters here, I am afraid. It is a bit stupid to ask you, but then I was wondering whether it isn't the natural thing to do with an open drain ie: I mean pulling it up to some supply to use that output. Anyway, I am trying to find out what you meant.
