Why not making the sensor resistance part of a CMOS555 RC-oscillator and measuring the resulting frequency or period by the help of a 8051?

I just read the specs ,I have used other FSRs (not for Industrial purpose) but this looks better than those. What filtering/ Oscillations do you reccomend/suspect kai .
