I'm progressing pretty well with the development of the new site and forum. As I develop the system I've found myself pondering the message scoring/voting system. Do we still need the ability to vote/score messages?
What good has it done to members till date? , I have read during search some member are toooo touchy regarding this system and had offered to leave the forum as well .This system can easily irritate anyone ! . There should be someone to judge the issue , maybe the more knowledgable people are disinterested to vote and two less knowledgable people keep messing up ? . we can ditch it entirely, Ditch the beast , if its possible I would support that move . In the latter case, the author of the message would see the negative scores not as blunt point/scored criticisms that count how many times people disapproved of their message, but rather when they view their message they'd actually see prominent text (that only they see) that says something like "Members of the forum have indicated that it would be helpful if you read the 8051 bible, the tutorials, etc. This is a way to trouble , people will hesitate scolding others openly then secretively . constructive criticism. Any thoughts on what to do with the scoring system? If you plan to keep the beast alive then ,I feel instead of letting people posting -1, or +1 bluntly , they should have to fill in a text line stating reason (as Andy said) and that line should get appended at the end along with the name of the commenting person.
