#152247 - New Forum: Opinions |
I'm progressing pretty well with the development of the new site and forum. As I develop the system I've found myself pondering the message scoring/voting system. Do we still need the ability to vote/score messages?
We can either keep it as-is, we can ditch it entirely, or modify the system so that positive scores are made public on the message but negative scores are only seen by the poster of the original message. In the latter case, the author of the message would see the negative scores not as blunt point/scored criticisms that count how many times people disapproved of their message, but rather when they view their message they'd actually see prominent text (that only they see) that says something like "Members of the forum have indicated that it would be helpful if you read the 8051 bible, the tutorials, etc." or "Members of the forum request that you please include comments in your code". That kind of thing. That way positive scores could be made public to highlight good responses but negative scores would be presented only to the original poster--and they'd be presented as constructive criticism. Any thoughts on what to do with the scoring system? Regards, Craig Steiner 8052.com Webmaster |
