Buying a camping inverter to run a clock will raise eyebrows !!
The idea to check the chip is worth considering and so is the idea to feed a 60Hz to the right pin. Why in this process I may even improve the clock's accuracy ! I agree that the 60Hz tapped from the mains is NOT accurate but will do for most purposes for a domestic clock. The problem with some of these challenges is that they have an "emotional" touch. My first reaction to my friend was that I will buy her a good digital clock that can be plugged into the mains here ! But she is attached to that blue digits and so I am spending much more than the 100USD the clock would have costed to make it work here. Poor me. Raghu |
