#146908 - a few more
Responding to: ???'s previous message
- proper startup/shutdown/transition to the "flashing yellow" state (the lights I know throw all red in all directions for a few seconds at these transitions)

- link to a different nearby system, for example we have a relatively big streets crossing just a few metres from a railway crossing, and the lights are (have to be) linked with the railway signals

- bulb (or other light source) monitoring and reaction upon failure

I bet there are much more of these. And this all is trivial compared to the linked and adaptive systems, yet not so trivial to achieve
