... although it certainly has an extremely low number of instructions; and it apparently strives for minimum transistor count (it's bipolar!) while maintaining a certain level of programmer's luxury for certain class of applications.
The Bayko's Great CPU document calls it a "cambrian DSP"... (and that's not it, either). I'd call it a true microcontroller, if it would have the memories and ports internally. But, wow, what an excentric architecture! Even the PICs look conservative and neat next to it... :-) JW |
