Could they have been used to improve AM radio reception?
Engines used to generate a lot of RF noise. I have seen ground straps on the hood (bonnet for our UK friends) to reduce the noise in police cars. It seems reasonable that someone sold the straps to the technologically challenged as an audio accessory. |
