A very good optimizer (as good as or better than those of the C compilers) and a feature-rich IDE.
No optimizer can be used for debugging and no IDE can be customized to do what you want. To achieve these would make you spend so much on that that your compiler would be a piece of crap. So Jan, if you want to sell to blatant amateurs go ahead with the suggestions above, if you want to sell to professionals (who are willing and able to pay), make the very best optimal compiler and forget the rest.
