Well, both the "it was the first" and "codebase already available" helps little with identifying the key elements a potentially successful '51-Pascal compiler should have...

It seems I just couldn't get the question right... Let me try once more:

I you'd be in the position of moving from pure asm to mixed HLL/asm today, what would be the key issues - for example comparing with Keil's - which would make you choose "my" Pascal (OK I know this is purely hypothetical but you sure get my point)?
