It certainly required a couple of day's work, but my rewrite of xapp058's XSVFplayer into asm51 occupies as much as 2kB of code space... This is completely standalone, no RTOS etc. I admit. And the data source was the simplest possible, via UART from PC. However, I share your view concerning the data: without significant effort a other than trivial (e.g. erase-only) XSVF (or any other format) simply cannot be stored into a few kB's space - count on tens to hundreds of kB...
