I don't think this is really necessary. I just wanted to be sure you don't use an USB-UART "cable" or similar, which might raise various questions....

Just to be sure, can you repeat your experiment with a different PC?

PS. I thought it is normal to _know_ what chips one has on his PC's motherboard... I am finding out that there are more things which are not quite normal... perhaps including myself... :-)
