Though your concern (and also Charles concern) about proper waveform shape is logical and correct but the problem is not waveform shape. The problem is oscillation. The faster error amp is it needs faster feedback to prevent oscillation and concerning little phase margin that we have, I think we have to choose an error amp as slow as possible.
