I think he is talking about at the end of a line.
If you have a line that is terminated by a "hard return" (CR + LF), then that line will always terminate at that point, starting a new line. But if you let the software insert "soft returns" (word wrap) as needed, then lines will automatically adjust to fill each line as much as possible. I could be wrong, but I am guessing that Ralph manually presses enter when he gets to the end of a line, instead of just continuing to type and letting the software start the new line. But then when he adds new text above that hard return, and subsequent text gets shifted to make room, some of those hard returns get wrapped onto new lines which promptly terminate at that hard return (leaving a lot of blank line, or whitespace). If this is the case, Ralph, just get into the habit of never pressing enter until and unless you want to terminate a line unconditionally (for example, to start a new paragraph). Not only will your edited posts still look right, but your unedited ones will look better too. Remember, the normal post window is wider than the editing window into which you type. Hi Joseph: Thank you for the reply. I used type on regular typewriters. It's habit that's hard to break when typing. Plus touch on laptop key boards is really bad which does not help touch typing. The only laptop I have which has great touch is mz100 sharp double 720k no hard drive with a nice blue screen. I like to use it as terminal as I hate to through it out. Best reguards, Ralph Sack P.S. I think my typing is little better since I did what you said. |
