... how is Dan using it too drive the display with 8 bits.
7 segment displays only need 7 bits. And 1 bit for a digital (sic) point. 7 bits for the segments + 1 bit for the decimal point = 8 bits. So where's the problem? By the way: it's "Decimal Point" not "Digital Point" (If you wanted to be generic, the term is "Radix Point") Hi Andy: The decimal point was a spelling error. How every I still don't know how Dan K. was driving the 7 segment display. Normally displays are driven with sn7447 common cathode or sn7448 common anode or cmos parts with same numbers. Like a 74c48 or 74c47 etc. And these parts use BCD format 1 2 4 8. To drive the display coming from some type of counter ex. 7490 connects to 7448. How do you do it with all 8 bits the way Dan's Program is written. See post http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=127800 Even though I understand the display code I do not know how to implement it in this case. Steve Taylor can you give me Dan K. email address maybe he will share his schematic with the forum? Ok Andy tell how you would do the display in hardware in this case do not skip any steps. Best reguards, Ralph Sack P.S. How do you drive the display using all 8 bits at once? |
