#122996 - Learning from the tools
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Compilers like SDCC and Keil can be a bit of a handicap when learning C because of the non-standard (but necessary) extensions they use.

If you want to learn C, you could try starting with one of the PC compilers. They are much more standard, and have much better error reporting (although a misplaced ; can still induce a daunting cascade of error messages). You can also learn from the code analysis tools (such as Lint, PCLint, Splint etc). After you have code that compiles, these analysis tools will tell you if you have done anything flaky.

C isn't the easiest programming language to learn, but it's here to stay.
