I saw that notation in the finalwd.pdf document and after looking at the help forum at the SDCC homepage found that P2^4 had to be changed to P2_4, trial and error(s) lead me to my solution. I know SDCC is a work in progress, but it seems there should be some sort of list of supported statements, commands, etc. and their syntax. If there is I haven't found it yet.
