#122594 - Xilinx website Responding to: ???'s previous message |

The last time I downloaded the XILINX suite, it took over twice as long per MB as it normally does. Yer right -- the entire Xilinx website is slooooow, and I blame whatever sort of goofy dynamic-HTML/database-lookup they use. I think they need to buy 1000 more servers and hire 100K more guys in India in order to speed up their support. The current version of ISE has been out less than four months and already has three major patch sets. Awww, c'mon, everyone knows you don't install any new Xilinx release before SP3 arrives! The schematic package is so full of crap that, despite spending considerable time on it (... until Labor day ... then it's over!), it won't import files from earlier versions, and the simulator won't install. Schematic? What's that? :) I've been an HDL guy for over ten years. All I need is emacs and its way-excellent VHDL mode, and I'm set. Oh, yeah, ModelSim helps too. All this just so it will run under Windows Vista, I suppose. I just bought a new Mac Book Pro. No Vista for me, thankyouverymuch. -a |
