despite the rather predictable response from eric..the idea is that you can use less pins from your processor to multiplex a display where the standard aproach would require more pins,the only real drawback being the need to source and sink current on the same pin.It may well have been invented by someone called charlie who knows?? It can also be adapted to allow fewer connections for a keyboard matrix |
